I haven't always had time to pursue my art. I have given much of my time to the schools. I have given much of my time to my family! But I'm retired now and running CMAW. I am thrilled to be offering a class this summer!
This class is for anyone who wants to learn more about plein air painting. Any medium and experience level will be welcome.
I have noticed that often students come to workshops and they haven't painted in a long time. The teachers have so much to offer! You want to be in a place that you are ready for what they are teaching.
We will look at what makes a great composition, explore color, and work on improving our drawing skills. Developing your voice and think about a fresh approach! These are all foundational for landscape. We will look closely at the art of many of the famous Maine artist like the Wyeth's...etc...
I met Keiko last summer and watched her teach. Keiko paints with amazing skill.
She knows how to draw you in- and help you "get it"!
Keiko is a strong gentle presence guiding you in the right direction.
She is generous with her demonstrations which are so helpful.
Keiko is a very kind person who gives a lot.
Keiko's drawing and composition is spot on.
Her color is vibrant and fluid!
Ask Keiko about her travels!
She has painted all over the world!
You won't be disappointed!
I met Paul last summer and was
so impressed with his buddha like gentle nature.
He made everyone feel so at ease that art making
came easily. His demonstrations reveal a direct
and simple approach. You will get a lot out of this class!
Paul painted this at Pemaquid point last summer during class. We had such a beautiful light filled day that I decided
to book the Hotel Pemaquid for some the workshops in 2025!
Choosing pastel as her medium, Lyn Asselta creates vivid, thoughtful images of places that tug at her heart. These images are often purposefully meant to make her viewers feel as though they have stumbled upon a place of quiet strength and solitude. She chooses to create a narrative in her images, but welcomes and encourages you to create your own.
How can I explain to you what it feels like to stand in a forest and imagine that silence is a living thing, breathing between the leaves and the sunlight? How can I explain the way sea foam skitters and catches amongst slippery, wet rocks at the ocean's edge during a winter storm? Words aren't always adequate, so I feel compelled to pa
How can I explain to you what it feels like to stand in a forest and imagine that silence is a living thing, breathing between the leaves and the sunlight? How can I explain the way sea foam skitters and catches amongst slippery, wet rocks at the ocean's edge during a winter storm? Words aren't always adequate, so I feel compelled to paint those feelings.
The challenge of painting what I feel is what continues to interest me most.
Aline's advice to "Find the Hero" stayed with me. Simplfying and identifying the focal point! Plucky and fun she teaches with enthusiasm and purpose. I loved hanging out with her!
“My goal as an artist is to find those times and places where beauty is not only evident, but startling and suddenly present.”
