I have been an art teacher in Boston Public Schools for 25 years. I believe in the power of the arts to create children who are connected
to themselves and life.
However the schools, because of testing, don’t support the arts well. I bought Coastal Maine Art Workshops as a reaction to this. There is a serious lack of respect for something

I am happily retired as of August and plan to throw myself at CMAW!The world needs more art, especially now!

I have always been a serious maker. I started out sewing and knitting at ten, painting at thirteen.
I was lucky enough to attend Dana Hall School where my creativity was nutured by a wonderful teacher! And this led me to attend Rhode Island School of Design.

I brought my love of the arts to the children of Boston. The schools are missing the point of education! Testing has sucked the life out of the schools all over the country. I felt invisible and so do many, many children! They need art! We all do!
I love supporting children in the way I would have loved to being supported myself!

Well, we moved to Maine!!! A dream come true for me! After living in working in Boston for 25 years plus! We felt the need to move to the country! We also felt we need to get our adopted daughter out of the city schools were not meeting her needs. The city became too much!
My husband is from Maine and we have spent summers here.

The best part about this move besides buying and successfully running Coastal Maine Art Workshops is that my daughter is in a much healthier place for her.
She is in a lovely Montessori school and finally having struggled with dyslexia she has learned to read! She is also becoming an avid horse lover!
